The Ontario government is investing $10.2-million to support improved operations and reduced wait-times for hospitals within the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Brightshores Health System, and Hanover and District Hospital. This funding is part of a $1.1-billion investment in the hospital sector as part of 2026 Ontario Budget: A Plan to Protect Ontario, which represents a four-per-cent increase in annual support for the fourth year in a row.
“Our government is committed to ensuring families have access to high-quality, reliable health care in Bruce County,” said Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson. “This provincial investment continues to demonstrate our government’s commitment to supporting our local hospitals throughout the region. We are also providing our front-line health-care workers with the supports they need to keep delivering exceptional care to patients and families, close to home."
These three organizations will receive the following funding allocations:

This investment will support the core clinical services at these three health centres so they can better meet patient needs. This includes funding to help keep their emergency departments open, support inflationary or other wage pressures, and reduce wait-times for diagnostic imaging and surgical procedures, including MRI, CT, cardiac, stroke, neuro-services, orthopedics and cataracts, so that people can connect to care faster.
“Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system, ensuring that more people in Bruce and Grey counties can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, health minister and deputy premier. “These investments will allow the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Brightshores Health System and Hanover and District Hospital to continue delivering the highest standard of care while reducing wait-lists and wait-times for patients and families, for generations to come.”
Ontario continues to make historic investments in health care. Over the next 10 years, the government is investing approximately $64-billion in major health infrastructure. This is part of the government’s plan to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province, which will deliver about 3,000 new hospital beds to enhance access to quality care and build a connected, people-first health-care system.

QUICK FACTS
The Ontario government is investing $257-million in 2025-26 to support critical infrastructure upgrades and repairs at 126 hospitals and 66 community health-care facilities across the province, a 12.3-per-cent increase from the previous year.
