The Tiverton and District Lions Club and the Municipality of Kincardine held a pre-Canada Day celebration, Saturday evening, featuring a community barbecue, touch-the-truck, little tattoo parlour, cardboard car-making, and a movie.
The Lions served approximately 10 dozen hamburgers, six dozen hot dogs, and lots of lemonade and iced tea, cake and ice cream, at the Lions Hall.
Cardboard boxes and craft material were available in the hall for children to make their own "drive-in" cardboard box cars for the movie later in the evening.
Nearly 70 children and adults enjoyed the "Madagascar" movie in the Tiverton Annex.
The Canada Day festivities in the Town of Kincardine begin with the parade, Wednesday (July 1), at 11 a.m., leaving Victoria Park and marching to the flag pole at the bottom of Harbour Street.
Following the opening ceremonies, there will be family-fun activities in Macpherson Park, including the Kincardine Lions barbecue, live music by Weekend Never Ends (11:30 a.m.) and The Greg Ritchie Band (2 p.m.), face-painting and henna tattoos, rural reptiles exhibit, a foam pit, and much more.
