Melvin Irwin, formerly of Lucknow, dies at the age of 72

Melvin Angus Irwin of Goderich, formerly of Lucknow, died at University Hospital, London, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the age of 72.

Born Dec. 15, 1953, in Wingham, he was the son of the late Sarah Jean “Sadie” (Nicholson) and William John “Jack” Irwin.

Greatly missed by his son, Mac Irwin of Goderich; and sisters, Jean Thompson of Wingham and Nancy (Paul) Fox of London.

Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by brother, Jack Jr.; and brother-in-law, Ron Thompson.

Following Mel’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service and interment will take place at Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.

Donations to the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital (MRI unit) are greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy; arrangements entrusted to the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow.
