James (Jim) Grabas of Kincardine died suddenly and tragically, June 22, 2026 at the age of 55.
Son of Edward Grabas and the late Patricia; brother of Mark (Julie) and Greg (Catherine); uncle of oodles of nieces and nephews, and a friend to many.
Jim leaves behind his wife, Cindy; and their three children, Megan, Casper, and Zachary.
An avid outdoorsman, sports fanatic, animal lover, and Disney expert, Jim brought a joyous energy to whatever adventure he partook in — especially with his children. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it; from building a new deck, or helping his parents build Mr. Hotdog (iykyk), to sharing his passion for cooking, trying out new recipes that he would share with those he loved.
Jim played many roles throughout his life - he was a son, brother, nephew, grandson, husband, son-in-law, uncle, and friend. But his greatest joy, and role, was that of a father. Watching his children grow and explore the world around them was something that never failed to leave him in a state of awe and wonder. From coaching soccer, to researching the best bow to buy, or learning all he could about any and all special interests, he was a present father — always.
His sense of humour was legendary as were the many pranks (and faces!) he and his brothers got up to. In his hometown of Chalk River/Deep River, he gained notoriety not only for playing football in high school, but also for his contributions to school play performances. Music and a good mystery novel — and a few Star Trek marathons were also things Jim enjoyed. In quieter moments, he could be found touring around museums that showcased World War history or trying out a new restaurant.
To his children … he was so proud of the three of you — and he loved you at full capacity at all times, even though he struggled at times to show it. Never forget the trips to Disney and the magic we always found there as a family. Continue to learn, chase dreams, and remember:

Jim’s life is marked by the incredible things he achieved, the help he gave, and the love he held for those closest to him. He was Cindy's best friend, and he will be deeply and forever missed by all who loved him.
