Ainsdale Golf Classic raises almost $45,000 for local youth sports and organizations

Ainsdale Golf Classic raises almost $45,000 for local youth sports and organizations

Taylor and Charles Candler of Ainsdale Golf Course are pleased to announce that the ninth annual Ainsdale Golf Classic, presented by Shoreline Power Group, has raised $44,584.98 in support of youth sport organizations, associations and schools in Kincardine and Ripley.

This brings the total of funds raised, to date, to $207,446.69!

"What an awesome day," said Taylor. "Thanks to our amazing sponsors, participants, volunteers and staff. We couldn't do this without all of you!"

Charles thanked the Shoreline Power Group which has been the title sponsor for the past seven years, and Superheat which has been the food sponsor for eight years, along with the many other sponsors.

"When we started this in 2018, Norm MacArthur of Superheat played in that first event, and he said he wanted to be part of it moving forward," said Charles. "Superheat has partnered with us every since."

He gave special thanks to the many volunteers and the Ainsdale staff for all their hard work and dedication to this event.

"We purchased Ainsdale in 2017," said Taylor. "We started the Ainsdale Golf Classic in 2018 and it has grown way larger than we ever anticipated. Charles and I and our family appreciate all your support."

Held Saturday at Ainsdale, the event drew 160 golfers, with two shotgun starts - 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

All proceeds go to the following organizations:

  • Kincardine Minor Hockey
  • Kincardine Minor Baseball
  • Kincardine Minor Soccer
  • Kincardine Skating Club
  • Kincardine Kippers Swim Team
  • Kincardine Klassics Gymnastics Club
  • Kincardine and District Senior School Athletics
  • Ripley-Huron Community School
  • Kinetic Knights Robotics Team (FRC Team 781)
  • Ripley Minor Soccer
  • Ripley Minor Baseball
  • Ripley-Huron Skating Club
  • Huron-Bruce Minor Hockey

The 8 a.m. shotgun start went off without a hitch, with cloudy skies. The 2 p.m. shotgun start began with a smattering of rain but it didn't last long.

The winning team for the morning round, with minus-18, included Travis McLaughlin, Mitch Jarvis, Ryan Swift and Ryan Fraser.

The top team for the afternoon round, with minus-16, included Cal McQuillin, Max Roppel, Jeremy McQuillin and Mark Roppel.

  • Closest to the Pin for the ladies - Ela Jones

  • Longest Drive for the ladies - Emma Winder

  • Closest to the Pin for the men - Mark Roppel

  • Longest Drive for the men - Max Roppel

  • Putting contest winner - Darryl Zettler
