Zoila "Minerva" Aquino Zavaleta of Kincardine died peacefully, surrounded by love and family, Aug. 18, 2026, at the age of 48.
Minerva or Minnie or to me, Babe or Honey, or Angel is remembered as the best of moms to Maximus, Emilio and Alexander; a wonderful daughter to Rafeal and Florecita (RIP); a best little sister to Ana; a Tia to many; a loving niece to so many Tia’s and Tio's from her home in Chiapas. And as best friend, wife, soul mate, everything to her husband, Ian Colley.
Minerva loved creativity and her artwork decorates our home - stained glass and watercolour being her favourites. Skilled in the kitchen, prolific on the dance floor, she lived life for the moment, without losing sight of tomorrow.
She will be remembered by the many children she taught to swim while a lifeguard at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, by her many friends, by all who knew her.
She adored her boys and family more than anything in the world and would, and did, everything she could for them. She will never be forgotten and she will live on in our hearts.
Visitation will take place Aug. 23, 2026, from 1-4 p.m., at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine.
Funeral Mass will be held Aug. 24, 2026, at 11 a.m., at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Kincardine, with reception to follow.
Interment, Kincardine Cemetery.
Flowers sent to the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, or memorial donations to Huron Hospice Bender House, would be appreciated by the family.
