Good news! Our Early Bird Legion membership renewals officially kick off today and run through the end of November, offering a discounted rate of $55, saving $10 off the regular membership price. Renewing early not only secures your spot for the upcoming year, but it also gives you a chance to enter our exclusive monthly draws: renew this month for a chance to win four tickets to our upcoming Duelling Pianos performance, or renew in October for a chance to win two New Year's Eve event tickets. Renewals can easily be completed on-line or directly at the Legion bar.
When renewing your membership, ensure your current E-mail address is up-to-date, as E-mail is now our primary channel for distributing critical branch reports, agendas, and notices. Member input is vital to how our Legion operates, and reviewing these reports keeps everyone engaged in our community’s direction. Not a member yet? You can still sign up for free for the remainder of 2026 and immediately take advantage of the Early Bird program by renewing for next year at the same time (this combined on-line-only option is available exclusively through our digital portal).
Big congratulations to Jon Corbett, our Zone C-1 Commander, and winner of our August Kin Cares 50/50 draw, taking home $9,275 with ticket No. 773802430! September tickets are officially on sale now, featuring Early Bird draws of $500, Sept. 11, and $250, Sept. 18, with the grand prize winner announced Oct. 1. You can grab your tickets on-line at kincares5050.ca (remember to enable location sharing), in person at the Legion bar, or at the Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop — or set up a monthly subscription via our pinned post so you never miss a draw. Thank you for making this our ultimate win-win project, directly funding local veteran support and hospital expansion right here in the Kincardine area.
At the Saturday Meat Draw, it was Charlie Samms who was the double-dipper, winning two meat prizes. We definitely saw some new names taking home some prizes. Congratulations to Griffin and Lavern as well. Congratulations, once again, to Elmer Lamont, who took home the $102.50 cash prize in the 50/50 draw.
The Walkie-Talkies of Branch 183 are starting up again tomorrow (Sept. 4), and new members are always welcome. They have a busy and exciting few months ahead filled with group outings, community causes, and engaging Friday morning meetings. For outings, they are looking into the International Plowing Match in Walkerton from Sept. 22-26, and a group is heading to see the play, "Misery," at SS Stables, Thursday, Sept. 17, to support the local Refugee Committee fund-raiser. Crafters are being invited to pick up free yarn and patterns from Patty Wegg-Coulter at the Legion to crochet some poppies for Remembrance Day events.
This Friday morning meeting will kick off at 9 a.m. with a quick, 15-minute gentle walk before the 9:30 a.m. program begins with guest wellness guide Andrea "Ziggy" Zeigler (former Cirque du Soleil and Celine Dion dancer). Some future speakers include retired Bruce Power engineer Jim Laliberte discussing Artificial Intelligence, Sept. 11, registered acupuncturist Giulia Pittiglio, Sept. 18, and a guided historical walking tour with Beth Blackwell, Sept. 25.
There is a new Men’s Shed group starting up at the branch and it is hosting an introductory start-up and promotional meeting, Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the Hall. Designed as a unique place to work on projects, pursue hobbies, and build things with no prior skills necessary, it offers a welcoming space to connect with like-minded men, have fun, and help out. Operating under the simple motto, “Somewhere to go. Something to do. Someone to talk to,” this initiative seeks to join a global network of more than 2,500 Men’s Sheds worldwide. Men’s Sheds have been active in Canada since 2010. You can check it out on-line at www.mensshedsontario.ca or find it on Facebook and YouTube @BruceMensShed to learn more.
Check below for all of our September events. We have lots of fun things happening. As well, we have our weekly happenings, such as the Saturday Meat Draws, Tuesday Fiddlers, Friday Jam Sessions, and Thursday Bingos.

The Fiddlers group draws a crowd at the Legion
Tonight at Bingo (Sept. 3), as a pre-Labour Day special and thank you to all of our regular Bingo players, we will be doing a ‘doubler prize’ on two regular games, as well as a $1,200 Jackpot this week! Wow, good luck to everyone!
Finally, a shout-out to our new Facebook followers! We have been trying to get over the 3,000-follower mark for a little while, and I am happy to say we did it! As always, feel free to invite a friend to follow our page and stay connected on our Legion activities.
