Johannis “John” Van Erp of Kincardine died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, at Trillium Court Seniors' Community, in his 84th year.
He leaves behind a legacy of love as the devoted husband of Marion, caring father to Matthew, and proud Opa of Jaedyn and Taryn.
Predeceased by his parents; his brother, Theodore “Ted,” and his sister, Catherina “Toni” Kostuik.
John’s journey began in the Netherlands and carried him across the ocean to Canada aboard the "Zuiderkruis" in 1952. In Toronto, he built a life rooted in hard work, family, and faith.
With Marion, he spent many joyful decades surrounded by relatives and friends in Golden Valley. After her death, he found comfort in Kincardine, close to his brother and sister.
A man who never shied away from a task, John approached every challenge with determination. His love of cars was more than a hobby, It was a craft he practised with skill and pride. But his greatest joy was the freedom of the open road, where he felt most at peace.
John will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his Catholic faith, and his readiness to help anyone who needed a hand. He was fun-loving, caring, and deeply cherished by all who knew him.
He now rests beside his beloved Marion in the Golden Valley Cemetery.
