Catholic school trustees serve a vital role in local Catholic education governance, as community stewards and guardians of Catholic education. They are entrusted to act in the best interests of the school board.
Governed by Ontario’s Education Act, trustees are responsible for system-level governance which includes setting vision and policy, establishing and monitoring the board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan, and reviewing the annual operating budget to ensure resources directly support student achievement, well-being, and spiritual growth.
"We are deeply grateful for the dedication of our incoming and returning trustees as they step into leadership for the 2026-30 term," said board CEO/CEdO Karyn Bruneel. "Our Catholic school trustees hold an essential governance role as they establish strategic priorities, adopt policies grounded in Catholic values, and help allocate resources that nurture the academic success, well-being, and faith of every student we serve."
The trustees will officially be commissioned and take the Declaration of Office at the inaugural board meeting and prayer service, Nov. 16, during which the positions of chairperson and vice-chairperson will be elected.
