South Bruce OPP report theft; graffiti; and remind motorists of lock-it or lose-it campaign

POLICE LOOKING FOR STOLEN ATV

(CARRICK TWP, ON) – March 17, at 6:50 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the repot of a theft at a residence along Sideroad 25 in Carrick Township.

Sometime between 3:30-6:45 p.m., March 17, a black 2016 Can Am XMR All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV), with Licence No. 3DP63, was taken. There is no estimated value for the stolen ATV at this time. The serial number is on file with police.

POLICE INVESTIGATING GRAFFITI

(MILDMAY, ON) – March 16, at 11:30 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of graffiti at a residence along Stinson Street in Mildmay.

Officers arrived to find that spray paint had been used on a stump in the front yard.

Graffiti is any writing, symbols or drawing applied to any surface without the property owner’s consent. Graffiti negatively impacts a community’s beautification. The removal or repair costs can be expensive, but it must be removed. Graffiti left unchallenged suggests a community that is apathetic about its appearance and, most often, leads to more graffiti being applied.

The application of graffiti is a criminal act called mischief which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail.
