Kincardine's gold-medal Special Olympian Rosie Laidler was the torch-bearer at the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics which made its way through downtown Kincardine, Tuesday afternoon.
Joining Special Olympics athletes and members of Community Living of Kincardine and District, were South Bruce OPP officers.
The event began at Quinn Plaza, with South Bruce OPP constable Kevin Martin, community services officer, leading off the parade in a police cruiser, through downtown Kincardine, and ending at Victoria Park.
Besides raising awareness about Special Olympics, the run also raises funds for the cause.
The Torch Run began the day in Owen Sound, Meaford and Walkerton, and then was headed for West Grey, Shelburne and Orangeville. It was perfect timing for the event as Special Olympics athletes had just returned from the Provincial Summer Games in Guelph.
