Wednesday, June 1, a Caregivers Support Workshop was presented at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre. The morning session offered information and resources currently available for caregivers, while in the afternoon, participants were invited to practise training for a volunteer peer support group. This program is being initiated as a pilot project for a Rural Women’s Health Support Initiative program in Grey and Bruce counties funded from FWIO grants, Women’s Xchange and Community Foundation Grey Bruce.
The program was presented by Andrea Morrison, program and communications for FWIO; Sheila Schuehlein, project lead for Peer Health Support from Gateway Centre; and Elisabeth Miltenburg, project lead assistant. It was a very interesting day discussing current issues and struggles facing caregivers and their various roles and how to support them in their positions.
