July is busy month for Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services

As in previous years, July was a busy month for firefighters, says fire chief Kent Padfield.

Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services was dispatched to 26 calls, including responding with paramedics to seven medical emergencies, a propane barbecue fire on Penetangore Row, a field fire on the Northline, and six burning-complaint investigations.

Monday, July 25, Tiverton firefighters responded with Bruce County paramedics and the South Bruce OPP to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Bruce County Road 20 and Bruce County Road 1. Two patients were transported to hospital after being extricated from their overturned car.

Firefighters from Tiverton and Kincardine fire stations assisted the Paisley Fire Department at a large wheat field fire on Concession 10 of Bruce Township, Thursday, July 28, at 1145 a.m. The Saugeen Shores Fire Department also assisted Paisley in extinguishing the fire.

Friday, July 29, at 1250 a.m., Kincardine firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 944 Queen Street in downtown Kincardine. Apparatus from Kincardine and Tiverton fire stations attended. A water tanker was also requested from the Ripley-Huron Fire Department.

First-arriving crews found smoke coming from one unit of a multi-residential building. The building was safely evacuated, and the fire was contained to the bedroom of the apartment. All the residents were able to return to their apartments after the fire was extinguished. Damage is estimated at $15,000 and the investigation continues.
