Nine young people hone their skills at youth plowing day in Ripley
Nine members of the Ripley Junior 4-H plowing team, and three adult coaches, took to the field at the Bruce Botanical Food Gardens in Ripley, Sunday, practising for the Bruce County Plowing Match.

Due to a lack of rain over the past few weeks, the ground was pretty hard, making the plowing difficult for youth and coaches. However, they prevailed, with the following results:

  • 1st - Natalie Cameron, 125
  • 2nd - Meghan Cameron, 118
  • 3rd - Trent Ferris, 117
  • 4th - Curtis Lotton, 115.5
  • 5th - Noah Lotton, 110.5
  • 6th - Nolin Neitzel and Nathan Middelkamp, 100

Additionally:

  • Tom Thede, 104
  • MacKenzie Reinhart, 125.5

Lynne Taylor, executive director of the Bruce Botanical Food Gardens, even had a try at plowing, with lots of help from the youth coaches!

The Bruce County Plowing Match will be held Friday, Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the farm of Mike Pinkerton, three kilometres east of Tiverton on Bruce County Road 15. For more information, visit the website at www.brucecountyplowmen.ca/
