Kincardine Dentistry has won Miele's Canada-wide Favourite Dental Practice contest.
Larry Town, Miele's director of professional division, and Scott Wallis, regional business development manager for Ontario, made the presentation Wednesday morning to business owners Dr. Michael and Gail Walden, at the dental clinic located east of Highway 21 on Millennium Way in the Kincardine Business Park.
People from across Canada were invited to participate in the contest, which ran from March 15 to June 30. Staff at the dental practices asked patients to vote for their clinic, and make comments about the dental office, if they wished to do so.
"Kincardine Dentistry not only received the highest number of votes (499) during the contest, but some of the most sincere and inspired summaries of all the patient feedback received nationally," said Town, adding the response was even more incredible since Kincardine Dentistry didn't enter the contest until June.
Among some of the written responses in support of Kincardine Dentistry, were the following:
"I love Kincardine Dentistry. The office is very clean and I know this because I used to work at a spa in Kincardine. We sterilized our instruments so I know how important this is in the health care industry. Kincardine Dentistry has a beautiful sterilization centre that is open to anyone who would like to observe. Staff uses the latest technology not only at the sterilization centre but everywhere in the brand new state-of-the-art building. It's a fabulous dental office!"
"Kincardine Dentistry always goes way beyond in accommodating short-notice requests and appointment changes. The service the staff provides is extraordinary. Most up-to-date equipment and extremely friendly service. This is the best dental practice I have ever encountered in my 60-plus years. Very professional and the best dental care possible."
"Wonderful office. I've been coming here for 63 years! Yes that is not a typo. What an amazing group of people. They deserve to be voted number one in Canada. Would recommend them to anyone!"
"This practice has the most up-to-date technology to diagnose and treat patients. The staff is so confident and knowledgeable. They all have a great way with all patients, especially with young children. I constantly refer friends to this clinic. I've never had such healthy teeth!"
The grand prize was a $13,000 Miele washer/disinfectant machine which has already been installed, said Town.
"It was perfect timing," said Gail Walden. "We were already in the process of purchasing one."
Dr. Walden said the fact that Kincardine Dentistry won a contest over practices run in larger cities, such as Vancouver and Toronto, is evidence that Kincardine’s community is well-connected.
“We know our patients and they know us," he said. "In a community such as ours, where we play soccer and hockey together, go to the same schools and churches, and volunteer together, our relationships go beyond the professional ones established in the practice.
“In Kincardine, we are fortunate to have several excellent dental practices that all excel in patient service and care. I can also say with confidence, we have a wonderful staff that works very hard every day to ensure that patients have the best experience possible. Without the diligence, hard work, and commitment our employees bring to their positions, this award would not have happened."
Miele also presented three more prizes during the celebration of the award. In the draws, dental assistant Caitlin Hamilton won a vacuum, while dental hygienist Bobbi-Jo Hitchcock won a dishwasher; and client Karen Johnston won a vacuum.
Kincardine Dentistry gave away several draw prizes as well.
This is the second year of the Miele contest - last year's winner was in Edmonton, Alberta.
