Massed Band Festival marks 25th anniversary Aug. 27
The Massed Band Festival, held in Victoria Park, Kincardine, is marking its 25th anniversary this year.
Slated for Saturday, Aug. 27, beginning at 11 a.m., the annual event features hot dogs and corn-on-the-cob, along with a great slate of entertainment, including local bands, visiting pipe bands and the Toronto All-Star Big Band.
The Kincardine Community Concert Band kicks things off at 11:30 a.m., followed by the Toronto band, from 1-3 p.m., and then the pipe bands: Teeswater Highlanders, Sarnia Legion, City of Orillia, Goderich Celtic Blue, Penetangore, Uxbridge Legion, Ontario Fire Services, and Cambridge and District; and The Pleats.
Admission to the festival is free; however, if you want your fill of all-you-can-eat hot dogs and corn, the cost is $6 per person (children age five and under eat for free).
The day ends with a Massed Band Parade at 8 p.m., through downtown Kincardine, to Quinn Plaza, and back to Victoria Park for a concert.
Motorists are reminded there is no parking on Queen Street, from Victoria Park to Broadway, after 5 p.m., in order to accommodate the large Massed Band Parade.
