The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation is hosting its second annual "Home to Kincardine" Radiothon in the main entrance at Trillium Court Seniors' Community, Kincardine, Sept. 16, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Last year, more than 400 people attended the event, and the foundation EXCEEDED its goal of $75,000 which was used to purchase IV pumps for the hospital.
This year, the goal is again $75,000, to purchase four cardiac monitors. Defibrillators/pacers are urgently needed at the Kincardine hospital for patients experiencing cardiac problems: heart beating too fast or heart beating too slow. This equipment is needed for monitoring the patient and delivering lifesaving electrical shock to the heart in the event of a cardiac arrest.
At this year's Radiothon, there will be a food tent organized by the Kincardine Lions Club, and phone lines with support from Bruce Telecom, as well as lots of fun activities, auctions and a raffle.
A Via Rail travel voucher with a value of $750 will be part of a live “phone-in or walk-in” auction throughout the day. This is just one of the donated gifts received so far and they are coming in every day! All donated gifts are displayed on the foundation's Facebook page as they come in. The foundation welcomes everyone to join the fun at this event and help raise funds for the Kincardine hospital, where everyone benefits from the most up-to-date medical equipment. The foundation's vision is to focus on its long-term goal of keeping the local hospital current and vibrant in order to best serve the medical needs of the community.
