Lots of new activities added to this year's Lucknow Fall Fair

Lots of new exciting activities have been added to the 153rd annual Lucknow Fall Fair, slated for Sept. 15-18, under the theme, "Sew It, Grow It, Show It."

Friday night, take in the new Power Paws dog show. These dogs have been on Canada's Got Talent and Animal Planet. There will be two 30-minute shows with a meet-the-dog session after each one.

There are also a three-on-three hockey tournament for children, ages 13 and under, and a tug-of war competition for ages 14 and over.

If dogs and hockey aren't your thing, the fair has a new Family Fun Zone in the arena, featuring 25-cent carnival games with three levels of prizes to be won, a reptile show, cotton candy, little tyke area, face-painting, plasma cars and popcorn.

Friday night is also the the official opening of the fair and the ambassador competition, along with an auction of the award-winning pies and cakes.

Saturday, there is a huge inflatable area in the arena and front parking lot. These are not just for the kids! You will want to try the Bungee Run, 22-foot dual lane slide, and the Zorb Ball track - an inflatable for everyone. You can also take in a magic show on the stage in the arena, get your face painted by Snippety the Clown, paint your own pumpkin, make your own sundae, and of course, the carnival games, little tyke area and plasma car track are running on Saturday too.

Outside, there are pony rides and a petting zoo. Don't forget to pick up your passport punch card. Find all the passport stops and redeem your card for a prize.

Also on Saturday, are the 4-H beef show, open sheep show, 4-H poultry show, light horse show, pedal tractor pull, baby show, log-sawing, and more.



The fall fair parade begins at 11 a.m., and marches down main street to the fairgrounds.

In the evening, there will be the youth dance at the Lucknow Legion with Scott Chow and Friends, and the Yuk Yuks On Tour stand-up comedy show for the adults at the Lucknow Arena.

Sunday, features breakfast in the Paul Henderson Hall on the second floor of the Arena, followed by the community church service, a pet show, and Touch-the Truck.

Admission to the fair Friday, is $4 per adult, $3 per student (Grade 8 and under), and free for pre-schoolers; Saturday, it's $5 per adult, $3 per student, and free for pre-schoolers; admission is free on Sunday.
