The Kincardine Theatre Guild is in rehearsals for its next show, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," which opens Nov. 17 at the Kincardine Arts Centre in downtown Kincardine. This production features lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, by special arrangement with R&H Theatricals (Rodgers & Hammerstein).
About 55 veterans and new members are performing in the production. They have begun learning the music by singing along to the CD, and have started learning some choreography for this great show.
Based on the Biblical story of Jacob and his 12 sons, found in the book of Genesis, the show is set in a frame in which a narrator is telling a story to children, encouraging them to dream. She then tells the story of Joseph, another dreamer.
There are a number of new people in this production, with 21 children, and 35 youth and adults playing the parts of two narrators, 12 brothers, the father, wives, kings and slaves.
The show runs Nov. 17-19 at 8 p.m., (Gala night is Nov. 19); Nov. 20 at 2 p.m.; Nov. 24-25 at 8 p.m.; Nov. 26-27 at 2 p.m.; Dec. 1-2 at 8 p.m.; and Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 each; available soon.
