Kincardine hospital foundation Radiothon raises more than $50,000
The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation held its second annual myFM Radiothon, Friday, at Trillium Court Seniors' Community, Kincardine, raising more than $50,000 for new cardiac monitors which are urgently needed at the hospital.
The event was held in the front entrance and lobby at Trillium Court, with the Kincardine Lions Club doing the barbecue, and individuals and organizations walking in to make donations, or pledging donations over the phone. There was a silent auction, as well as a penny draw, and entertainment throughout the day.
The Radiothon also featured interviews with various groups and individuals who helped explain the need for the four cardiac monitors, defibrillators/pacers, used for patients experiencing cardiac problems; heart beating too fast or too slow. This life-saving equipment is needed for monitoring the patient and delivering life-saving electrical shock to the heart in the event of a cardiac arrest.
Total cost of the equipment is $75,000 which was the goal of the Radiothon.
By 4 p.m., Friday, a total of $50,504 had been raised, much to the excitement of the organizers and the foundation.
In case you missed the Radiothon, donations are being accepted for the next month. Or you are welcome to donate any time throughout the year toward equipment for the Kincardine hospital. For more information, contact the foundation office at
