Body of missing kayaker recovered
(LAKE HURON, ON) – The body of 60-year-old David COUNSELL of Saugeen Shores has been recovered.
The South Bruce OPP said the man was reported missing Sept. 19, at about 2 p.m., after he went out paddling his kayak in the waters of Lake Huron between Chantry Island and the Saugeen Shores beach.
The OPP helicopter, South Bruce OPP Marine Unit, Saugeen Shores Police Service, Saugeen Shores Fire Department and Canadian Coast Guard were called in to help. Divers from the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit were later called in to assist with the search.
The South Bruce OPP appreciates the assistance of the media and the public with this investigation.
