Ripley woman charged with racing
(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A young driver of Ripley has been charged with Racing, following a traffic stop that took place Oct. 24.
Just before 1 p.m., a Huron County OPP officer spotted a Toyota Tundra pick-up truck travelling eastbound on Amberley Road, west of Lucknow, at a high rate of speed. The officer confirmed his visual observations of the racing vehicle with a RADAR device and confirmed the truck was travelling at a speed in excess of 140 km/h in the posted 80 km/h zone. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was subsequently charged.
Valerie ELCHUK, 22, of Ripley has been charged with “Race a Motor Vehicle”. She has a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 6, at Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich. Her driver’s license was suspended for seven days and her company vehicle was impounded for the week.
