Bulldogs down Mount Forest, take on Wingham in semi-finals
Sam Feagan had the game-winning goal in overtime as the Kincardine Bulldogs eliminated the Mount Forest Patriots, Wednesday night (Feb. 11) in Mount Forest, and now advance to take on the Wingham Ironmen in the semi-finals in Western Junior "C" hockey action.
It was a tough battle, as Kincardine led the series, 3-2, going into Wednesday night's game.
Following a scoreless first period, Chad Simpson put the 'Dogs on the scoreboard, late in the second, assisted by Dalton Hnatko and Luke Czuczman.
Mount Forest evened the score minutes later and it was 1-1 heading into the final frame; and that's how the score remained at the end of regulation time.
Midway through overtime, Feagan scored, unassisted, and the 'Dogs took the game and the series, four games to two.
Kincardine will now meet the league-leading Ironmen in the semi-finals, with Game 1 in Wingham Sunday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m., and Game 2 set for the Davidson Centre, Kincardine, Monday, Feb. 16, at 4 p.m.
In the other semi-final series, Hanover faces Walkerton, with games under way this weekend.
