What a beautiful week of great weather we’ve had; looks as if lots of folks got some Christmas decorating done before reality set in on Saturday with the arrival of snow! Don’t forget to clean off your vehicle before heading out on the roads; be able to see and be seen! Drive carefully, everyone!

This week, there were lots of meetings for year-end activities. The Ripley And District Horticultural Society Christmas meeting was Wednesday with another delicious potluck lunch at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre. Congratulations to Tryntje Eisen who received the District Youth Award presented by Sharon Nivins, district director; and to Shirley Harris who received the Royal Bank Award for most points at the flower show and also the president's award. Incoming secretary for 2017 will be Christine Roberts and president will be Sandra MacDonald. A fun auction of beautiful Christmas planters helped some of us get some Christmas shopping done too.
 
The Ripley Christmas Store is open again, featuring local crafts and artisans. Be sure to stop in and see what they have been creating! Thanks Diane and Wilma, for organizing this again!

Some belated birthday wishes to Riley MacInnes who was one year old, Nov. 7, and Kathy Aitken, and to Doug MacDonald this week!
 
The Bruce County Holstein Club held its annual meeting at the farm of Darren and Julianne Eby near Allenford, Friday. The speaker was Dr. Milo Haas, a dairy nutritionist and management consultant. Members also reviewed and updated their constitution and elected directors and executive for the coming year.
 
Friday evening, about 70 people attended the Ripley-area 4-H clubs Awards Night at the Ripley-Huron Community School. Members of the dairy, beef, sheep, vet, conservation and curling clubs received their Ontario awards and club achievement awards. Congratulations to everyone and especially the 4-H leaders  and sponsors who provide opportunities for our young people to develop life and  leadership skills!

Jenn Nahwegahbow and family, Elijah, Eva, Ellie and Emilia, visited overnight Friday with her parents, John and Joyce Farrell at Wingham. Mary Anne Kukoly visited Thursday evening. 

We are looking forward to RVilla’s Christmas Bazaar, Friday, Nov. 25. The Santa Claus parade in Ripley is this weekend too! The Goderich Santa Claus Parade was Saturday night and our Ripley-Huron Fall Fair ambassador, Bethany Wilken, was in attendance. Hope everyone was dressed for the cold, windy, snowy weather!

Jim and Fran Farrell attended the confirmation service of their niece, Alexis Logtenberg, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Saturday evening. The Van Osch and Logtenberg families gathered after for supper at the home of Alexis’ parents, Ken and Agnes, in Port Albert.
