Ripley Horticultural Society junior club enjoys making wreaths, cookies at Christmas meeting
Nine members of the Ripley Horticultural Society's junior club joined their leaders for some Christmas fun - making wreaths and cookies - at the home of Tryntje Eisen, Saturday morning.
Eisen and fellow leader Linda Jaynes taught the club how to make a wreath out of a wire hanger, some fir tree branches, and Christmas ornaments. It took a lot of hard work but the results were beautiful. Eisen explained that the wreath is round as it represents the "eternal circle."
Meanwhile, leaders Heather Newman and Mary Rose Walden taught the club how to make some Christmas cookies, using cutters for shaped cookies; dental floss to slice through a roll of cookie dough; and crushed lifesaver candies to make stained-glass cookies.
It was all great fun and, following a snack, the club members were able to take all their creations home.
