John Kuik dies at the age of 77

John Kuik dies at the age of 77
John Kuik, surrounded by his family, died Nov. 26, 2016, in his 78th year.

Born May 5, 1939, in the Netherlands, he was the son of Dirk and Greta Kuik, immigrating to Canada in 1953. He is predeceased by his two older brothers, Klaas and Steven, and survived by his younger siblings Anne, Robert and Freda.

John married the love of his life, Helen Little, July 5, 1958. She died Feb. 5, 2004.

They are sadly missed by their four children: Donald (Bonnie), Douglas (Julie), William (Sarah), and Darlene (Dan) Smeltzer, as well as their nine grandchildren: James (Jackie), Sheila, Mitchell, Jessica, Madeline, Claudia, Jennelle, Kurtis and Kyle; and three great grandchildren: Tyler, Chase and Kira.

John leaves behind his wife and companion. Leda (White), and canine friend, Jenny. Also survived by sister-in-law, Betty Kuik.

A private family graveside service will take place at the Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.

A casual gathering of family, friends, and neighbours will be held at the Lucknow Legion, Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, from 2-4 p.m.

Donations to the Ontario Lung Association and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 309, Lucknow, would be appreciated by the family.
