PREPARE YOURSELF FOR A WINTER STORM

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – Southern Bruce County has braved its first major snowstorm, with heavy snow and strong winds making driving conditions very dangerous.

The South Bruce OPP is asking residents to consider the following measures to prepare for a winter storm:

  • Check propane, oil and other heating sources to ensure you have heat
  • Ensure you have sufficient groceries to outlast the storm
  • Get flashlights, batteries and battery-powered or crank radio ready
  • Have a supply of bottled water for each person per day
  • Have sufficient prescription medication to outlast the storm

If you have these items on hand, you need to ensure that they are easily accessible. For more information on emergency kits, you can check on-line at http://www.getprepared.ca/.

Winter storms can last anywhere from a few hours to several days. Routine trips that can be postponed should be postponed in the interest of your safety.
