Kincardine Bulldogs win one, lose one on the weekend; sit in third place
The Kincardine Nicol Insurance Bulldogs of the Provincial Junior Hockey League, are in third place out of seven teams in the Pollock Division, behind second-place Mitchell and first-place Walkerton. After splitting games on the weekend, their record is five wins, eight losses and two ties.
The 'Dogs were home to Hanover, Saturday night, Dec. 17, and lost, 7-3.
Hanover opened the scoring early in the first, but Kincardine's Mike Fiegehen worked the powerplay to tie the game, assisted by Robert White.
The Barons dominated the second period, firing in four goals, before Fiegehen scored, again on the powerplay, from Bryce McFadden and Mike Osadca.
Hanover scored twice more in the third frame, to take a commanding 7-2 lead. In the dying minute of the third, Payton Dunlop had one more powerplay goal for the 'Dogs, assisted by Fiegehen and Logan Swanton, before the buzzer sounded and the Barons took the 7-3 win.
Sunday afternoon, at the Davidson Centre, the 'Dogs were in much better shape, edging the Wingham Ironmen, 3-2.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring when McFadden fired in a shot late in the first, from Fiegehen and Jesse Gunn.
Kincardine made it a 2-0 game, early in the second, on a powerplay goal by Tyler Fregona, from Brett Burrows and Keegan McLelland. Hanover pulled within one midway in the period.
Partway through the final frame, McLelland added another for Kincardine, from Fregona and White.
Hanover tried to make a come-back, scoring late in the third, but Kincardine held the 3-2 lead for the win.
The Bulldogs welcomed the Kincardine Tykes to play a game during the first intermission, which was enjoyed by the crowd.
Wednesday night, Dec. 21, the Bulldogs hosted the Goderich Flyers at the Davidson Centre. And that's the final game until 2017.

The Bulldogs return to the their regular game schedule Friday, Jan. 6, at 8:30 p.m., when they host Walkerton at the Davidson Centre.
They then have a jam-packed weekend, playing in Hanover, Friday, Jan. 13, at 8 p.m.; hosting Mount Forest at the Davidson Centre, Saturday, Jan. 14, at 7:30 p.m.; and travelling to Mount Forest Sunday, Jan. 15.
