Bluewater board director offers highlights of 2016 in annual report

The Bluewater District School Board’s key initiatives and achievements of the past year were highlighted at Tuesday's regular meeting of the board as education director Steve Blake presented his annual report.

This year’s report focuses on the important work that is being accomplished in the four strategic priority areas of the board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan.

A small sampling of the many highlights featured in the report includes:
 

• The expansion of mental health and wellness strategies for students and staff
• The launch of a demonstration classroom for educator training related to Autism Spectrum Disorder
• School council initiatives to foster parent and student engagement
• The board’s efforts to reduce under-utilized school space
• Recent successful community partnerships

“The director’s annual report provides an opportunity to update and inform the public on our board’s progress in achieving the goals we have mapped out in each of our strategic priority areas," said Blake. "I invite all stakeholders in our school communities to read about some of the amazing work and stories of excellence from the past year, thanks to the efforts of many."
