Two injured in house fire on Southline, Kincardine, Friday night

Two people were injured in a fire that destroyed a house on the Southline, Kincardine, Friday night.

Kincardine fire chief Kent Padfield said firefighters responded to the structure fire at 1433 Southline, at 3:25 p.m. Feb. 3.

Firefighters from both Kincardine and Tiverton stations attended the scene, as well as a water tanker from the Ripley-Huron Fire Department, Bruce County Paramedics, Hydro One and the South Bruce OPP.

On arrival, firefighters found the farm house fully engulfed in flames, said Padfield.

As a result of the fire, two occupants were treated for injuries at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, Padfield said. A 22-year-old man was subsequently transferred to a Hamilton hospital in critical condition, and a child was treated and released from the hospital.

Firefighters were on scene for six hours. The house was completely destroyed; a cause and estimated loss have not yet been determined.

Padfield said the fire is being investigated by the Fire Investigations Section of the Office of the Fire Marshall and Emergency Management.
