Good crowd enjoys chili, skating, fiddle tunes, Irish dancing at Tiverton Winterfest

There was a good turn-out for the second day of Tiverton Winterfest, as people enjoyed the many events featured Sunday morning and afternoon.

About 80 attended the worship service, Sunday morning at Knox Presbyterian Church, followed by a delicious chili-and-hot-dog luncheon, put on by the Hutton family.

A crowd of children and parents took in the Family Fun skating party, with ice-painting, free hot dogs and refreshments, sponsored by the Tiverton Lions Club.

And Sunday afternoon, about 100 people gathered at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre for Fiddle Tunes and Folk Songs by Eliza Jane, sponsored by the Tiverton Agricultural Society.

Eliza Jane included eight fiddlers: Bob Pilger of Southampton, Ashley Steinhoff of Kincardine, John MacDonald of Port Elgin, Glenn Boyd of Ripley, Glenn MacKenzie of Tiverton, Randy Morrison of Brampton, Eldon McDowell of Kincardine and Deb Morris of Kincardine; two guitarists: Larry Hunter of Tiverton and Jerry McNulty of Kincardine; and keyboardist: Mary Campbell of Kincardine.

They were joined by nine Irish dancers of Celtic Academy Canada, students of Mary Foley: Kate, 9, and Sadie Bester, 7, of Cargill; Elena Dobson, 9, of Walkerton, Carys, 11, and Declyn Meneely, 6, of Saugeen Shores; Cindy Lu, 11, Abygale Young, 17, and Angela Xu, 13, all of Port Elgin; and Mackenzie Hall, 17, of Tiverton.

And finally, the entertainment featured pattern-dancing and square dances, with caller Frank Frankalanza of Owen Sound.

The day ended with a delicious home-cooked hot ham supper and lots of cheer!
