Enbridge presents $10,000 grant to Saugeen Valley Children's Safety Village

Enbridge has provided a $10,000 Safe Community Program grant to the new Saugeen Valley Children’s Safety Village.

The mission of the Safety Village is to provide an innovative and interactive educational safety facility to aid in the elimination of preventable childhood injuries and death.

It is estimated that 10,000 children will participate in the safety programs at the village each year. Programs will include fire safety, Internet safety, farm safety, road safety, bike safety, PEACE (anti-bullying), and more, as identified by the Ontario school curriculum as well as local concerns and issues.

Programs will focus on school-age children from Kindergarten to Grade 6, with additional programs to be held throughout the year for families, youth, adults and seniors.

“We can’t say enough about how much we appreciate Enbridge stepping forward to contribute to such an important initiative in our community,” said Marilyn Rosner of the Saugeen Valley Children’s Safety Village.

Enbridge’s contribution toward this project will fund the interactive PEACE room, which encourages kindness, empathy and peace.

The Enbridge Safe Community Program provides financial support to first responders and safety-driven organizations for the purchase of new equipment, professional training or educational programs. The program has provided more than $8.5-million to organizations across North America since its inception in 2002. Through investments in partnerships and human capital, Enbridge supports organizations that contribute to the economic, environmental and social well-being of communities near its operations.
