Newly-renovated, the restaurant is more than a coffee house, offering exquisite dinner service, beginning at 5 p.m., in its beautiful, licensed dining room.

Owner-operator Rob Millar said he and his staff did a test-run, opening for dinner time, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings during the summer. It was a great success, so the service was offered six nights per week from Thanksgiving until Christmas.

The establishment closed New Year's Eve for renovations, and re-opened Jan. 9, and now provides a complete dining experience, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

“We expanded the kitchen to accommodate more orders,” said Millar, “and we have improved the ambiance of the dining room.”

He said the coffee is still on for the regulars in the morning; breakfast is served from 7:30-11 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and dinner beginning at 5 p.m. (provided reservations are made by 3 p.m.).

Millar said he has increased the number of staff, and now has 10 employees (full-time and part-time), including four cooks. Joining him, is his son, Robby, as manager of the bistro. “This is a family business and we work well together.”

Over the next three weeks, a hostess will be hired so even if you arrive at 10 a.m. to enjoy a coffee or come in with friends to enjoy your lunch, you will be seated by the hostess.

“Our goal is a full-service dining experience,” said Millar. “This is a restaurant, not a coffee shop. We want you to come and enjoy your meal in a relaxed setting, with high-quality food.”

The new dinner menu features appetizers, meal-sized salads, pasta, steak, vegetarian options and decadent desserts, with gluten-free dishes as well.

“These are home-cooked meals, with everything made from scratch,” said Millar “That's the whole idea, to have made-to-order meals in a leisurely dining experience.”

Bean's Bistro is in its 14^th year in business in downtown Kincardine, and Millar is pleased to open the doors to dinner service for locals and visitors, alike.

From now until the end of February, dinner is available through reservation by 3 p.m. Beginning in March, the dining room will be open Monday to Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m., with the last order taken at 8 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

For Valentine's Day, Tuesday, Feb. 14, treat your sweetheart to dinner at Bean's Bistro, at 6 p.m., by reservation only. The meal includes an appetizer salad, a choice of entree, and a fabulous dessert, for only $28 per person.
