New doctor setting up practice in Kincardine next January
Kincardine is set to welcome another new doctor next January.
In 2016, five new physicians joined the Hawthorne Community Clinic in Kincardine, and the municipality has just approved an agreement with Dr. Angela Cavanagh who will begin her medical practice here in January, 2018.
Born and raised in the Township of Huron-Kinloss, she is excited to be returning home. She completed her medical degree at Western University in London in 2015, and is finishing family medicine residency at Queen’s University at the Belleville/Quinte site. She is the author of several publications in the journal, "Cartilage," as well as many published abstracts about osteoarthritis research done during her Master’s degree at the University of Guelph.
With her husband and two daughters, Cavanagh likes to spend her time outdoors, camping, hiking and canoeing. She is looking forward to coming to Kincardine as it's such a great community in which to live and raise a family.
“We are fortunate that Dr. Cavanagh made the decision to join the Kincardine physicians group," said Dr. Lisa Scott, lead physician. "We had the opportunity to work with her for a period during her residency and we are confident that she will be a great addition to the physician group and the community. She will access patients who are currently without a physician.”
"As mayor and a member of the physician recruitment committee, I am thrilled that we have another doctor coming to Kincardine this quickly, said mayor Anne Eadie. "On behalf of council and our residents, I thank all those involved in our recruitment process for their hard work. Thanks, also to the Kincardine physicians and other staff at the medical clinic for making various accommodations to meet the health needs of our residents during the current recruitment process.”
The hiring of Cavanagh was made possible by the Kincardine physician recruitment program which is supported by partnerships that include Bruce Power, the Town of Saugeen Shores and the Society of Energy Professionals.
