Huron-Bruce MP announces fourth annual Hometown Heroes hockey game in Goderich

Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb has announced the fourth annual Hometown Heroes “Raise a Little Health” charity hockey game, set for Thursday, July 20.

Since 2014, the game has raised more than $130,000 for three community partners: the Goderich-Huron YMCA’s Strong Kids campaign, the Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health, and the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich.

Players joining the roster, include: current NHL’ers for the Buffalo Sabres, NHL All-Star Ryan O’Reilly and Cal O’Reilly; and former NHL’er and Stanley Cup winner Boyd Devereaux. Other players participating in the game will be announced throughout the spring.

The goal is to raise $70,000 for these three organizations which are working to improve the health and wellness of so many in the community.

Tickets are available at Lobb's offices in Goderich and Port Elgin, at the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Gift Shop, at the Goderich-Huron YMCA, or on-line at www.eventbrite.ca.

“The outpouring of support from our community for the past Hometown Heroes games has been incredible," said Lobb. "We hope to keep building on our past successes and continue to raise money through the game of hockey to support three great organizations that work very hard to make sure our community is healthy.”

The game will be held Thursday, July 20. Doors open at 5 p.m., the opening ceremony is at 6:45 p.m., and puck drop is 7 p.m., at the Goderich-Huron YMCA, 190 Suncoast Drive East, Goderich.
