Huron OPP report break-in; alcohol charge; and numerous charges for Huron-Kinloss driver

BREAK-AND-ENTER IN GODERICH
 
(GODERICH, ON) - Huron County OPP officers are currently investigating a break, enter and theft at an historical building that was in the midst of a renovation.
 
A large number of contractor's tools was stolen over the weekend from a jobsite located at the former train station on Maitland Road North in Goderich. 
 
Sometime between 5 p.m. Feb. 24, and 8:30 a.m. Feb. 27, those responsible forced entry into the building through a makeshift plywood door. Once inside, the thieves stole a variety of contractor-grade power tools.
 
A value for the stolen property has not been provided.

OVER-80 CHARGE LAID
 
(GODERICH, ON) - A 62-year-old Central Huron man has been charged with an Over-80 alcohol charge, following a traffic stop that took place in Goderich Monday afternoon, Feb. 27.
 
Shortly before 3 p.m., the Huron County OPP was notified of a suspected impaired driver who had just left a business located on North Street in Goderich. Officers immediately began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and moments later, a Huron OPP officer spotted the Ford Explorer, travelling eastbound on Huron Road.
 
A traffic stop was initiated and the investigating officer spoke with the male driver. While speaking with him, the officer noted he had been consuming some alcohol. As a result, a roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was promptly transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. The driver subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit. 
 
62-year-old David MASON of Central Huron has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Over-80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was later released from custody with an court appearance scheduled for March 20, at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver's licence suspension.
 
TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO NUMEROUS CHARGES FOR HURON-KINLOSS DRIVER
 
(CENTRAL HURON, ON) - A 43-year-old unlicensed driver will be making a trip to Provincial Offences Court this spring, following a traffic stop that took place late Monday night, Feb. 27.
 
Just after 11:30 p.m., a Huron County OPP officer observed a Dodge Dakota pick-up truck travelling northbound on Orchard Line without a functioning licence plate light. A traffic stop was conducted and a number of traffic-related offences were uncovered.
 
The traffic investigation revealed the driver was never licensed, the attached licence plates were unauthorized and the pick-up was uninsured.
 
Jody BERRY, 43, of Huron-Kinloss Township has been charged with:
 

• Drive Motor Vehicle - No Licence
• Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle
• Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance

She now has an court date at the Provincial Offences Court in Goderich to answer to her charges.
