Bullying on council is unacceptable, says reader

To the Editor:

With respect to bullying on council by elected council representatives during meeting discussions.

This is not an acceptable way to conduct meetings on the public's behalf. It shows that the chairperson (the mayor) has a disregard for her office and the public's interest.

Bullying is at the forefront of educating us against intolerance. The chairperson must deal with any councillors who try to disrupt others with their continuous flippant opinions that cause a disruption to the democratic process. All of council should not be bullying because they don't agree with the view of the speaker, be it Joe Citizen or another councillor.

So, in closing, I would suggest that the chairperson do the right thing by making bullying a offence and possible dismissal.
