Three Kincardine artists have work on display at Victoria Park Gallery

Three local artists have their work on display as the guest artists at the Victoria Park Gallery in downtown Kincardine, from now until the end of April.

Photographer Jeffrey Vande Klippe, and painters Tyler Eberl and Adam Dunlop, all members of Community Living of Kincardine and District, have combined their efforts for this show.

Vande Klippe, 29, lives with his friends at the Saratoga Road apartment building, just south of Kincardine.

"I love taking pictures and playing with my niece and nephew," he says. "My favourite subjects are flowers and the Kincardine Lighthouse. My toughest subjects are my niece and nephew."

Having taken more than 20,000 photos, Vande Klippe was glad of some help from his sister, April Sutton, and his friend, Shandra Robbescheuten, in narrowing down the ones he wanted to show. These include his favourites: the lighthouse, flowers and the sunset in Kincardine.

When he's not snapping photos, Vande Klippe plays games with his grandma and spends time with his great-aunt. He also enjoys camping with his family.

Eberl, 21, lives in Kincardine and likes everything about Halloween because his birthday is Oct. 31. Subsequently, most of his paintings depict images of Halloween.

His favourite pirate is Jack Sparrow, and his favourite superhero is the Hulk.

Dunlop likes creating visually-appealing oil paintings.

A resident of Kincardine, he enjoys living with his friends from Community Living. He also volunteers at Ecole Elgin Market Public School, reading to the children.

"I have a very supportive family and am thankful that they all live close by in Kincardine," he says. "Art has always been a passion of mine and I am excited to have my work displayed at the Victoria Park Gallery."

This is the first time these artists have had their work exhibited in the local art gallery. Dunlop had his art showcased at Theatre Orangeville when it was entered as part of the Canadian National Down Syndrome Art award.

Beth French, community development co-ordinator at Community Living in Kincardine, says she asked who was interested in showing their work at the Victoria Park Gallery. She hopes other members of Community Living will opt to put their work on display at future exhbits.
