Lucknow Scouts raise $3,100 at Kinloss Community Meal

A hungry crowd turned out Sunday night at the Kinloss Community Centre to enjoy a turkey dinner and all the trimmings, served by the 1st Lucknow Scouts and their helpers.

The Scouts greeted the people at the door and helped clear tables as fast as they could so more guests could be seated. By 5 p.m., there was a long line-up waiting to get in for the delicious dinner, including some decadent homemade desserts.

By the end of the evening, the Scouts had raised $3,100 to help fund the troop's trip to Camp Jamboree (CJ) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in July.

The Scouts will be joining the Lucknow Lions on a roadside clean-up next Wednesday as the Lions have also supported the fund-raising for the troop to attend CJ.

Joining the Scouts at the meal in Kinloss, were Dianna Finnigan and her family of Stayner. She is travelling to CJ with the troop.

And dinner organizer Nancy Craig of Kincardine was on her second of four fund-raising meals this week. By the end of Tuesday, she had helped serve 700 people over four days.
