Montgomery Ford Midget girls busy with hockey and Secret Santa party

The Montgomery Ford Midget girls had a busy weekend with some hockey and a team Secret Santa party hosted by the Clubb family Friday night.
The team had a good time, with delicious food, pizza and a team cake supplied by Bill and Diane Clubb, along with Christmas treats, cookies and candy brought by all the other teammates. The girls and the coaching staff all had a fun secret gift exchange and finished the evening with a game of pictionary. Thanks very much to the Clubb family for hosting this event.

The team now has to get into the swing of things again and, unfortunately, had a very small bench Saturday, with only two lines, as they travelled to Markdale to play the Shooting Stars "B" team.
The game was very close and even, ending the first period with a score of 2-2. Because of the double shifting, the Ford girls started losing ground and slowly running out of gas. Then, unexpectedly, Eartha Phorson's ankle gave out, and the team was down to nine players,
Markdale scored in the middle of the second period to go ahead, and in the third, scored two more for a 5-2 win.
With Markdale a "B" team and Kincardine a "C," it was not a loss that needs attention as Markdale is a good team. The Ford girls took Christmas treats over to the Markdale dressing room after the game, sharing leftovers from the team party Friday night.

Sunday, the Ford girls travelled to Chatsworth to play the TCDMHA Rebel's "C" team in a league game.
The first period was certainly intense and the Kinucks managed to take a one-goal lead, but TCDMHA kept the pressure on Kincardine goalie Sophia Tomaini, as both teams stayed scoreless in the second.
After a team meeting before the third, and still 1-0 for Kincardine, the girls started a lot different game play and managed to pick up three more nicely-earned goals for a 4-0 victory to split the games this weekend, and give Tomaini her eighth shut-out this season.
Scoring from both games were Jorie Elliott - 1, Megan Stewart-Kemp - 1, Danielle McBride - 1, Ashley McConnell - 1, Georgia Fields - 2.
