Both drivers suffer major injuries in crash west of Walkerton
(MUNICIPALITY OF BROCKTON, ON) - July 4, at 4:18 p.m., the South Bruce OPP, together with Bruce County Emergency Services, and the South Bruce Fire Department, responded to a serious motor vehicle collision between a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck and a 2008 Freightliner (UPS truck), at the intersection of Bruce County Road 20 and Highway 9 in the Municipality of Brockton.
 
Initial investigation revealed the pick-up was travelling southbound on Bruce Road 20 and failed to stop at the intersection, colliding with the UPS truck which was travelling eastbound on Highway 9.
 
The driver of the pick-up, an 18-year old South Bruce man, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to hospital with serious injuries.
 
The driver of the UPS truck, a 48-year old Arran-Elderslie man, sustained life-threatening injuries, and was airlifted to a London hospital where he remains in critical condition.
 
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and is assisting with the investigation which is ongoing.
 
The area of Highway 9 and Bruce Road 20 was closed for several hours for the investigation and the safety of first responders.
