Bruce Power bus tours now available Friday and Saturday mornings
Due to the popularity of the Bruce Power bus tours, they will now be available Friday and Saturday mornings, leaving the Bruce Power Visitors' Centre at 11 a.m.
The bus tour program has been running seven-days-per-week at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. since July 1, along with a student-run, 20-minute theatrical performance, titled ‘The Quest for the Perfect Science Fair Project,' performed Wednesdays and Fridays, and select weekends, at Noon.
The show, written by development student Cassandra Davidson, is performed in the auditorium, and features Davidson and fellow student, Robert Colquhoun. You do not have to take a bus tour to attend the show.
“It’s been a great summer of bus tours so far, with lots of participants joining us for the experience," said Chris Mercanti, section manager, community and indigenous relations. "We want to accommodate as many visitors as we can, so offering these new Friday and Saturday morning tours will provide more people the opportunity to see the Bruce Power site."
The 11 a.m. tours will begin July 28 and 29, and continue Aug. 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26. The daily seasonal program concludes at the end of August.
Despite the additional tours, pre-registration is still strongly recommended, as space is limited. Guests are able to reserve up to 10 spaces for friends and family members by pre-registering.
To pre-register, visit
www.brucepower.com/bustours or call the visitors’ centre at 519-361-7777. A valid photo identification, such as a driver's licence or passport, must be presented prior to your tour, and an adult must be present to vouch for the identity of children under 18 years of age. Tours leave the visitors’ centre, located west of Highway 21 on Bruce Count Road 20.
The visitors' centre and the bus tours were part of Bruce County's 150 Doors Open event, held in June. Other stops on that tour, in the Municipality of Kincardine, were the Inverhuron Pioneer Cemetery and the Kincardine Lighthouse.
