The Ripley Wolves played two strong home games on the weekend, coming out with a win and a loss.
The Wolves hosted Saugeen Shores Friday night and lost a close 4-2 game (empty-netter). Goals were scored by Josh MacDonald and Brett Catto. Assists went to Ryan Armstrong, Alex MacLeod, Jarred Colling and Jordan Cale.
Kurt Edwards made 32 saves in the loss.
Saturday night, the Wolves hosted Shallow Lake and jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead. Goals were scored by Cody Britton, Shawn Stewart and Travis VanGaver, with assists from Catto, Colling, VanGaver and Cale.
The Crushers got to within one by the end of the first and, as the lead changed hands in a wild second, the Wolves managed to take a 6-5 lead into the third. Second-period goals were scored by Catto, VanGaver and Nick Locking, with assists from Britton, Jeremy McQuillin (2) and Locking.
The teams exchanged goals in the third and the Wolves hung on for an 8-7 win. Britton completed his hat-trick, scoring two in the third, with assists going to Stewart, Cale and Catto (2).
Edwards made 28 saves in the win.
The Wolves, now 5-9-0, and in sixth place in the North Division, host rival Lucknow, Friday night at 8:30 p.m. The Tykes will be playing between periods and the game sponsor is Current Electric.
