Bruce Power Beach Party this Saturday at Station Beach, Kincardine

Join Bruce Power in celebrating summer at the 14^th annual Beach Party, this Saturday (Aug. 19), from 4-10 p.m., at Kincardine’s Station Beach.

“The Beach Party is our way of thanking the communities surrounding the Bruce Power site for their ongoing support,” said James Scongack, vice-president, corporate affairs and environment.

Bigger and better than ever, this must-see event will entertain and feed more than 4,000 guests their choice of a hamburger, hot dog or veggie burger, along with a cold drink, starting at 6 p.m. in the main tent. Opening ceremonies will begin at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s action-packed extravaganza includes two 24-foot rock-climbing walls, a 48-foot inflated obstacle course, four face painters, jumbo games, bouncy castles, giant kites on the beach, balloon twisters, airbrushed tattoo artists, and a photo booth, as well as a special appearance by Dickie Bird.

In the main tent, fans of Anna, Elsa, Belle and Moana will have the opportunity to participate in a sing-a-long with the Princesses, while any aspiring Jedi are encouraged to attend a training session with a Master Jedi, but are cautioned to watch out for Darth Vader! Photo opportunities will be available following the performances.

Visitors can enjoy the musical genius of local band, ‘General Gist,’ which will be performing on the main stage, at the beach during the day, and at dusk just ahead of the fireworks, which will conclude the evening.

5:30-6:30 p.m. – General Gist
6:30-7 p.m. – Opening Ceremonies
7-7:45 p.m. – A1 Hero – Jedi Training
7:45-8:15 p.m. – Princesses Sing-a-long
8:15-9 p.m. – General Gist
Dusk – Fireworks

On display, will be the Bruce Power electric vehicle, several Bruce Power emergency vehicles, such as the security team’s Light Armoured Vehicle, and one of the fire trucks. The Kinetic Knights (FRC Team 781) will have its 2017 robot, "The Mann," on hand as well.

Shuttle buses will begin picking people up at 3:30 p.m. at the No Frills south parking lot on Sutton Street, the Bruce Power Training Centre on Princes Street, and the Kincardine District Secondary School parking lot. Shuttles will run until after the fireworks. Guests are encouraged to walk or use the buses as traffic to Station Beach will be restricted.
