South Bruce OPP report thefts; $73,000 in stolen items recovered; and wanted man arrested
POLICE INVESTIGATING THEFT OF TRUCK
(KINLOSS TWP, ON) - Sept. 15 at 3:58 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a vehicle theft at a residence in the 600 block of South Kinloss Avenue in Kinloss Township.
The owner was awakened by the engine noise as a blue Dodge Ram pick-up truck with Licence No. FX9928, was taken. Welding equipment was taken with the truck, including: a Red-D-Arc welder, welding cables and assorted welding tools. The value of the stolen tools is estimated to be more than $18,000. There is no estimate on the value of the stolen truck at this time.
OPP RECOVER $73,000 IN STOLEN ITEMS
(HURON TWP, ON) - Sept. 14, at 8:37 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a stolen vehicle at a residence in the 2300 block of Concession 2 in Huron Township.
The owner watched as his blue Chevrolet Silverado was taken from the driveway. The truck was located on River Mill Line in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township. A young offender was arrested near the stolen truck.
At 1:10 p.m.. members of the OPP Community Street Crimes Unit - Grey/Bruce, OPP Community Street Crimes Unit - Huron/Perth, West Region OPP Emergency Response Team, Huron OPP, and South Bruce OPP, executed a search warrant at the River Mill Line property.
As a result of the investigation, police recovered a stolen Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck, a stolen Honda CRV and a stolen Yamaha RS Rage snowmobile. The estimated combined value of the seized items was $73,000.
Forty-two-year-old Katharine UPSHALL of no fixed address, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and three counts of possession of stolen property.
A 17-year-old young offender was charged with possession of a controlled substance and three counts of possession of stolen property. The young offender can't be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Both accused were held in custody pending the result of a bail hearing Sept. 15.
POLICE LOOKING FOR STOLEN ATV
(ARRAN TWP, ON) - Sept. 13, at 8:09 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a theft at a residence in the 800 block of the Arran-Elderslie Line.
Between 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sept. 13, a blue Yamaha Grizzly 660 All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) was taken. The ATV has a winch, a "V"-shaped plow on the front, and has no licence plate. The value of the stolen ATV is estimated to be $3,000.
WANTED MAN ARRESTED IN STOLEN VEHICLE
(LUCKNOW, ON) - Sept. 13, at 2:01 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along Campbell Street in Lucknow, observed a black Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck that had been reported stolen.
The truck was stopped on Walter Street in Lucknow where the male driver was arrested without incident. Police found that the driver was wanted for outstanding charges.
Forty-seven-year-old Michael CHAPMAN of South Huron was charged with possess stolen property, drive while disqualified, remove vehicle identification number, use unauthorized plate, drive with no insurance, two counts of drive while suspended, and two counts of breach probation. He was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing Sept. 14.
POLICE INVESTIGATING ATV THEFT
(HURON TWP, ON) - Sept. 12 at 9:06 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a theft at a residence in the 1000 block of Concession 12 in Huron Township.
Sometime between Sept. 4-9, a red Polaris Sport All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) with Licence No. 4CC23, was taken. The ATV has a winch on the front and a dump box on the rear. There is no estimate on the value of the stolen ATV at this time.
