OPP arrest wanted man in Huron County
(HURON COUNTY, ON) - A total team effort is what it took, but Huron County OPP now have Kyle MOORE in custody, following his arrest in Huron County late this afternoon.
MOORE was wanted in relation to a number of criminal offences committed in Huron and Perth counties, Sept. 25.
Friday, Oct. 5, around 11 a.m., a Huron OPP officer spotted a stolen Chevrolet Camaro in Clinton that was being operated by the accused. Prior to the officer making contact with the driver, the stolen car took off at a high rate of speed and fled out of Clinton.
Shortly after, the stolen Camaro was spotted by a Perth County OPP officer in Atwood. Once again, the accused took off and fled the area. Police then located the stolen Camaro abandoned south of Palmerston.
The accused then committed a break, enter and theft in Palmerston where he stole a Dodge Ram pick-up. He returned to Huron County near Brussels where he abandoned the stolen Dodge Ram pick-up and stole a GMC pick-up.
At that point, several marked and unmarked OPP vehicles were deployed to the area in an effort to locate the suspect vehicle. With the assistance of OPP Aviation Services (Airplane Section), police personnel co-ordinated a take-down of the suspect vehicle on C-Line Road south of Gorrie.
Once the vehicle came to a stop, the accused attempted to flee by ramming the truck into one of the police vehicles. Ultimately, his attempt to flee was unsuccessful.
Just after 5 p.m., he was taken into custody by members of the West Region Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine Unit and West Region Crime Unit.
Kyle MOORE, 33, of no fixed address, remains in custody with a video bail hearing scheduled for Oct. 7. The accused is facing several charges from Friday's events, along with numerous outstanding charges from several other OPP detachments and other municipal police services.
