Kincardine author has work published in "Christmas with Hot Apple Cider"
Kincardine author Shelley Norman is one of 55 writers from across Canada to have her work published in the just-released book, "Christmas with Hot Apple Cider."

Her stories, “Explosion” and “Advent of Healing,” have been included in the anthology which is the fifth in a series of books designed to entertain, encourage, and inspire.

"Christmas with Hot Apple Cider: Stories from the Season of Giving and Receiving" is an eclectic collection of true stories, short fiction, and poetry. It provides a diverse and multi-dimensional look at the traditions, teachings, and values surrounding the birth of Jesus.

Norman’s story, “Explosion,” is a non-fiction piece about how even an unexpected mess on Christmas Eve can help show God’s love.

Her fictional story, “Advent of Healing,” tells the tale of a small child who helps an elderly neighbour regain the spirit of the holiday season.

Norman's writing also appeared in the previous anthology in this series, “Hot Apple Cider with Cinnamon.”

An accomplished author, Norman has had, to date, more than 100 pieces published.

"My first published piece was the children's book, 'Bruce County Counts,' in 2009," she says. "This was published by the Brucedale Press of Port Elgin."

She is a regular contributor to "Curious - The Tourist Guide," published by Gervais Publishing in Flesherton, and "The Leaf," published by The Brucedale Press. Her work has also appeared in numerous other magazines, literary journals and anthologies in Canada and the United States.

In 2013, she placed second in the Poetry Institute of Canada's nationwide short story-writing contest, with "A Vacation in the Sun," completely inspired by her daycare children.

Norman lives on a third-generation family farm near Kincardine, which she operates with her husband, Corey Parker, and their dog, Holly. She also runs a home childcare, which inspires many of her stories.
