Nov. 3 is Random Act of Kindness Day

Random Act of Kindness Day is an opportunity to celebrate those little niceties and encourage others to pay those “acts of kindness” forward.

In Grey-Bruce, Friday, Nov. 3, is Random Act of Kindness Day when you have a chance to help someone else and then urge them to do likewise.

Community Foundation Grey Bruce, in conjunction with the Kincardine Community Fund, is joining other communities across Ontario, acting as kindness hubs, encouraging caring and sharing.

Cards are available that encourage the cardholder to perform a simple act of kindness for someone – a neighbour, a friend, a co-worker, or someone they don’t even know – and then hand the card over to that person – encouraging him/her to do the same.

There are many different actions that people can use as their kind act: buy someone a coffee, congratulate someone on a job well done, act as a sounding board for another, even something as simple as holding open a door for someone whose hands are full. Each act provides us with an opportunity to connect with a member of our community.

The Kincardine Community Fund Committee will be recognizing Random Acts of Kindness Day through its social media presence, through partnerships with the retailers in the Kincardine Business Improvement Area (BIA) and the students at Kincardine and District Secondary School.

Random Act of Kindness cards will be available for pick up at the tourist booth, the municipal administration office, and at participating locations in downtown Kincardine.
