Welcome Spring! 

March Break last week saw lots of visiting with students and relatives in the area and also a chance to get in some extra skiing!
 

Congratulations to Eleeta Aitken on the arrival of her latest great-granddaughter, Jade Michelle Kathryn Aitken, on March 17. First child for Scott and Desiree Aitken and first granddaughter for Bruce and Kathy Aitken!
 

Visiting during the week with Joyce and John Farrell were Jim and Eleanor Convay of Tiverton, Paul and J.P. Greenwood, Dan Benninger of Formosa and the Leises and Nahwegahbows of Elmira on Sunday. 
 

The Holyrood Butchers and Kintail Flyers enjoyed a reunion hockey game Saturday evening in Lucknow. A good time was had by all.
 

Gary and Donna Lawton of Seaforth had dinner Sunday evening with Doug and Shirley MacDonald.
 

Nicole Reid and friend Colin visited with her grandparents, Don and Marilyn Reid on Sunday.
 

Susan and Peter Roberts of Nairn and Kathy Martin of Kitchener visited with Aunt Kay Fraser on the weekend. 
 

Congratulations to the recipients of the Ontario Volunteer Service Awards. Winners from the Purple Grove Women's Institute were Maureen Collins, Joyce  Farrell, Mary Anne Kukoly, Shirley MacDonald, Janet Nixon, and Marilyn Reid. Their combined years of volunteering were 235.  The ceremony was held at the Arden Park Hotel in Stratford, March 19.

 

The Ripley and District Horticultural Society held a very successful meeting Wednesday afternoon, March 18.  The members entertained and challenged more than 30 youngsters to learn about growing vegetables and fruit.  Thanks to Tryntje Eisen for all her hard work in setting up the program.  We know the youngsters learned a great deal about growing vegetables and cress.  Thanks to all the grandmas and great-grandmas who helped out.

 

The Purple Grove Women's Institute ladies are looking forward to the next evening meeting, April 1, at Wilma's. All ladies welcome.
