Kincardine Lions announce winners of International Peace Poster contest
Lions Club International runs an International Peace Poster contest which is open to students, aged 11-13. The theme of this year’s contest was, “The Future of Peace.”

The Kincardine Lions club sponsored the contest for four different groups of students this year: Ecole Elgin Market, Huron Heights, St. Anthony’s and Artemis Art Supplies. The contest is an opportunity for students to think about peace, tolerance and international understanding, and creatively express what it means to them.

This year’s posters were judged by Cati VanVeen’s Art class at Kincardine District Secondary School, and a group of Lions Club members. The posters were judged on originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme, “The Future of Peace.”

One winner from each of the four groups was chosen and their posters have been forwarded to the next level of competition. Last year, more than 600,000 entries were submitted from students and Lions Clubs worldwide.

The Kincardine Lions appreciate all the students and staff for participating in the Peace Poster contest.

The following students won the contest:

  • Ecole Elgin Market – Abby Hegmans
  • Huron Heights – Kaitlin Gibson
  • St. Anthony’s School – Cameron Kuntz
  • Artemis Art Supplies – Thales Hunter
